If your Dio Node is continuously cycling through red, blue, and green lights, it typically indicates that a power failure occurred during a firmware update. This sequence means the speaker is stuck in a boot loop and needs a coordinated reset with your network to recover.
How to Recover from Light Cycling
- Unplug your Dio Node from its power source.
- Unplug your Wi-Fi router from power (this ensures the speaker will not auto-rejoin your network after booting, which will restart the loop).
- Plug your Dio Node back into power. The speaker will immediately go back into light cycling, but will boot up in the background.
- Wait 60 seconds for the speaker to boot up, then press and hold the (+) and (-) buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. Release both buttons once the light flashes. The light will continue light cycling.
- Plug your Wi-Fi router back into power and wait for your internet connection to fully restore.
- Ensure your iPhone or iPad is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Open the Settings app and tap Wi-Fi.
- Scroll to the bottom under the section labeled “SET UP NEW AIRPLAY SPEAKER”. Select your Dio Node and follow the prompts to set it back up on your network.
Frequently Asked Questions
My speaker is blinking green for longer than 15 minutes. What do I do?
A blinking green light indicates that your speaker is currently performing a firmware update. If this continues for longer than 15 minutes, the update may have stalled. You can cancel the process by pressing and holding all three buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. After releasing the buttons, the speaker will stop the update, recover its previous firmware version, and reboot itself.
Note: If your speaker continues to blink green after attempting to cancel, you may be running an older software version that does not support the manual cancel function. In this case, please contact our support team for further assistance.
Why does the light cycle happen in the first place?
This light pattern is a safety mode. It occurs when the speaker's internal software is interrupted midway through being rewritten (usually due to a power flicker or a lost Wi-Fi connection during the update process). The steps above force the speaker to stop trying to load the "broken" update and look for a fresh setup signal instead.
Does this process erase my custom speaker names?
No. You will see the speaker's previous name during the Wi-Fi setup process, and will have the option to change it at that time if you would like.
